Nottle ("we", "our", or "the app") is a local-first daily reflection tool. Your privacy is fundamental to how we built this product. By default, all your data stays on your device — we do not collect, store, or process personal data on our servers unless you explicitly choose to sign in and enable optional features.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, and how we protect it.

When you complete a reflection and an internet connection is available, we send the following to our AI service to generate your insight:
This data is used solely to generate your insight and is not stored, logged, or used to train AI models.
We collect anonymised behavioural events via Amplitude to understand how the app is used. These events contain no personal data, no reflection text, and no emotional content. Examples: "user opened app", "reflection completed", "step skipped". We never send raw reflection text, mood values, or any identifiable personal information to analytics tools.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to detect technical errors. Crash reports contain device type, OS version, and a stack trace. They do not contain reflection data, mood data, or any personal content.
The app works fully without an account. If you choose to sign in (with Apple or Google), we receive a user identifier and email address from the identity provider, which we use to identify your account for Premium access and future optional sync features. We do not receive your Apple or Google password.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising. We do not share your reflection content with any third party.
Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. You can erase all local data at any time from the Profile screen within the app. If you have an account, you may contact us to request deletion of any server-side data associated with your account.
Nottle is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
